PAINTING IS A RESOURCE TO EXTERNALIZE OUR INNER DEMONS
I created this blog in order to share with you, my love for painting.
The first paintings that you will see here are a reflection of how hard has been for me being an immigrant.
"An immigrant in Hartford"
Acrylic on canvas
(24" x 30" )
"Hollow buildings"
"Cruel winter"
During the winters, many people become depressed. Dark colors of clothes and the hard faces of the people match with the frozen streets. It is a hard time for those who come from the tropics.
I miss my native country, Colombia. My homeland is not a map or a place to go on vacation. It is my mother's sad eyes, my brother's kindness and the laughter of my friends.
"Interstate 84 West"
Acrylic on canvas
(36" x 24")
"Crying under bridges"
Acrylic on canvas
(20" x 16")
"Soul split in two"
Acrylic on canvas
(36" x 24')
As the time went by,I realized that my body was here but my soul was in my little town, far away, in South America.
"Crying under bridges"
Acrylic on canvas
(20" x 16")
We live in a country of 322 million of inhabitants. However, a lot of people live alone and unhappy, as separate islands in a sea of indifference.
"Hollow buildings"
Acrylic on canvas
(30" x 40")
In this last picture, I intend to show the emptiness and the loneliness that are experienced in modern cities.
"Early fall"
Acrylic on canvas
(16" x 20")
"Late autumn"
Acrylic on canvas
(16" x 20")
The chill of autumn and the gray skies announcing the winter, increase the feeling of homesickness
and distance.
"Cruel winter"
Acrylic on canvas
(18" x 24")
During the winters, many people become depressed. Dark colors of clothes and the hard faces of the people match with the frozen streets. It is a hard time for those who come from the tropics.
